The Base or Root Chakra is the “foundation”.
Known also by the Sanskrit name Muladhara, this spiritual wheel sits at the base of your spine. This is where your fight-or-flee instinct resides and, so, the First Chakra is about survival.
The Root Chakra teaches us about physical world survival and security. It also acts as an early warning system when danger is imminent.
Symptoms that indicate your Base Chakra is out of balance include lower back pain, poor circulation, lethargy and sadness. Physical activities help stimulate a healthier Base Chakra as does working with the Earth and consuming red foods.
