The Three of Wands Tarot Card Meanings 1200x630

January Tarotscopes 2019 Overview: Three of Wands

Happy New Year and many blessings in 2019! The good cheer from New Year’s Eve carries over into the morning. Why? The Three of Wands tells of the phenomenal year ahead. Brilliant possibilities await! The key-phrase for the coming year is: IMMENSE POTENTIAL. The air is thick with wonder since we are at the embryonic stage of achievement.

The Three of Wands is fitting for January. The word January originates from the Latin phrase Ianuarius mensis” meaning the month of Janus: The dual-faced god ruling the past and present. He governs gates, duality, and transitions. He symbolizes looking to the past (remembering), and the future.

Some folks associate the card with Hermes or the Roman Mercury. Hermes rules over business ventures, merchants, and thieves. Both Hermes and the Wands relate to the Air Element. As such, the card’s imagery links to communication, travel, and intellect. For those who connect Wands with the Fire Element, the card represents the movement of our will and drive. More important, Hermes rules BETWEEN-SPACES, CROSSROADS, and BOUNDARIES.

On New Year’s Eve, we stand at the gate between the old and new year; we are transitioning. The Three of Wands features a man standing at the shore’s edge looking out to sea, his back turned to the land. Three staves surround him as he spies ships on the ocean waters. He surveys the expansive landscape, deciding his next action. In the distance, there’s a visible shore. He stands on a high area of land with a lofty perspective of all he sees. He considers a journey (personal or professional), but he has yet to act. The Sun cloaks the entire scene in warm, yellow light.

The positioning of the three wands (staves|staffs|batons|rods) reveals where WE stand at this moment. Each rod appears plunged into the earth and stands upright. A rod appears behind, beside, and ahead of the man. He maintains a firm grasp on the staff representing the future. Here we see symbolism relating to our past, present, and what is yet to be. We stand on the solid ground with our stance in perfect balance; our “hold” on the future helps us remain poised. We have our “eye on the ball,” and nothing is stopping us from “hitting a homerun!”

On January 1st, our resolutions are fresh. We’re determined to achieve our every aim! We enter a between state; we are in flux. We have entered a doorway as we turn away from the days of old (2018). The door swings open wide to new pathways open for exploration. We may pause to question if we are ready to step into destiny.

The future is transparent. Unlike “The Fool,” entering an adventure unaware of the danger, we understand what our journey entails. The sunshine signifies warm blessings. The light signifies our illumination.

The Three of Wands corresponds with the Sun in Aries. It calls for action. The link with Hermes symbolizes our emergence from chaos into order or vice versa: Whatever best serves us at the time.

Affirmation: “I see the potential before me.”

January Tarotscope 2019 – All 12 Zodiac Signs

The Hanged Man Tarot Card Meanings 1200x630

Aries (March 20-April 19): The Hanged Man (Reversed)

Aries, you crave action, which is exactly what you can expect in January. The action-oriented focus of Aries increases with the energies of The Hanged Man in reverse. The man is no longer hanging in a “trapped position,” helpless as he dangles from The World Tree. When reversed, he appears to stand upright on one foot with his leg forming the figure four.

The Hanged Man’s hands are still bound behind him forming an inverted triangle. He is now in a better position to free himself from his bindings. A yellow nimbus forms around his head. His serene expression conveys his peace of mind. His shoes, like the light around his head, are yellow: Both symbolizing intellect while the yellow shoes signify remaining wise on one’s path.

The “figure four” the Hanged Man’s legs form relates to the alchemical symbol for Jupiter. It ties into the sky god of the same name, who is analogous to Zeus from the Greek pantheon. Here, you’ll find yourself thinking “thunderous thoughts” (Jupiter) or “lightning strikes of inspiration” (Zeus), which will occur with frequency this month. If you’ve had to make recent sacrifices, you’ll see in losing something through surrender, you gain something greater than what you lost through the sacrificial act.

In January 2019, Aries is wasting no time “hanging around.” There’s much-too-much on your bucket list to do. You already have a plan on how to accomplish your every aim. In matters of Love, you’ll pursue romantic partners like a wild, lustful warrior. You’ll find yourself cutting away every obstacle between you and the one you love the most.

In career matters, you’ll show your skill and dedication while making your potential clear to all onlookers everywhere. If you have been “bound” by tight financial responsibilities in previous months, the solutions to your troubles seem clear now. You’ll wonder why you didn’t see the answer before. Shake free from your bindings Aries; it’s time to get a move on!

Affirmation: “My focus and will are steadfast.”

The Four of Wands Tarot Card Meanings 1200x630

Taurus (April 20-May 20): The Four of Wands

The Four of Wands is a fitting card for January Taurus! A happy couple stands between four wands plunged into the earth: Two rods on each side of the joy-filled duo. The man and woman are celebrating. Both people hold up bouquets high in the air as evidence of their delight.

Draped in the air is a floral wreath tied to the rods with red and yellow ribbons. The “wreath” may represent a chuppa (chuppah): A canopy in a Jewish wedding ritual where the couple weds beneath it. Or the fruit-filled drapery appears as a sukkah: A decoration common in a Jewish tradition celebrating the harvest. A sukkah is a symbolic representation of a temporary shelter protecting those under it from the wilderness. The sukkah‘s structure is stable as are the four rods holding up the fruit-filled drapery.

You’ll find tremendous joy paves your path throughout the month. The Four of Wands foretells of a time where you remain safe from wild, untamed energies. Divine blessings pour forth. Family, love, friends, career, and personal finance will all see vast improvements.

Break out your date planner and pencil in all the social events you’ll be attending. It’ll give you an opportunity to expand your social circle. You’ll experience tremendous independence Taurus, and it’s so much to your liking; no Bull likes feeling trapped inside a pen! Despite the wintery cold months, there’s nothing but the freedom to roam through the lush, dreamy pastures of possibility before you!

Affirmation: “Joy fills every minute of my existence.”

The Six of Wands Tarot Card Meanings 1200x630

(Gemini May 21 – Jun 21): Six of Wands (Reversed)

Upright, the Six of Wands depicts a man riding in on the white horse of victory after conquering some feat. There’s a wreath of Victory on his head and one dangling from a staff, suggesting he has accomplished something grand and feels like a king. As such, we see the romantic hero or pure-hearted adventurer riding into the scene. A crowd gathers around in awe as they cheer and congratulate the victor.

The imagery is lovely, but for this month the card comes up as a reversal. It suggests some minor roadblocks ahead. When the Six of Wands is inverted, the man falls from the horse and gets lost in the crowd. His crown of victory falls away, and his movement ceases. So, what does this say about January 2019 for Gemini?

You might see the month as a little drab, especially when you prefer constant movement. Conditions are forcing you to a halt or it’s time to slow your roll waayyyyyyyyy down. This might feel like you’re flying high one minute and coming in for a crash landing the next. But really, this period is all about perspective.

As things slow down, it’s time to ask: “What is the Universe trying to tell me?” Maybe you need grounding so you’re more down-to-earth when you’re dealing with events and relationships. While you may not feel victorious now, use this “down time” as a way of recouping. Center yourself and gather your strength for what lies ahead.

If you’ve had your nose to the grindstone for weeks on end, make no qualms about kicking back in your favorite Lazy Boy and putting your feet up. Enjoy the respite; it’s only temporary. With a changing of the winds, you’ll soon be off and running for the finish line.
In relationships, your lofty thoughts often flow from your lips before you fully realize the power of your words. If you’re not careful about what you say, you’ll end up alienating the one you love. It’s no time to ride a high horse; you’ll only come off as condescending and have an uncomfortable fall from grace.

Affirmation: “All things will unfold in my life at the proper time.”

The Seven of Wands Tarot Card Meanings 1200x630

Cancer (Jun 21 – Jul 23): Seven of Wands

The Seven of Wands depicts a male with one wand in his hands as he stands in a defensive pose. There’s struggle, and the man isn’t pleased with the status quo. But it doesn’t mean all is lost. The young male in the Seven of Wands has his feet planted firm on the level parts of the earth, even when the terrain is rough. He fends off the “incoming attack,” but he’s also using the staff to maintain his balance throughout his defensive efforts. What does this mean for Cancer in January?

You can expect some emotional stress and a few challenges ahead, but it’s nothing you won’t be able to handle. Pressure can be a good thing if you funnel the energies correctly. After all Cancer, you’re a master in conflict avoidance. Now you have a chance to hone your coping skills while demonstrating your perseverance.

There’s a time to remain strong and to stand your ground, but there’s a time to remain open and ready to accept worldly intrusions benefiting you. You’ll find yourself bombarded with social invitations, appointments, and other responsibilities, all seeking to draw you out from your place of retreat. Don’t side-step the issue into your shell like a Hermit Crab! The possibilities the Universe presents you with are opportunities for expanding your horizons. Avoid the challenges set before you and you’ll face similar tests of your emotional endurance and patience later.

Affirmation: “I will embrace the opportunities before me.”

The Moon Tarot Card Meanings 1200x630

Leo (Jul 23–Aug 23): The Moon (Reversed)

The Moon corresponds with the Cancer zodiac sign and the ebb and flow of emotions. When upright, a crayfish comes up out of the deep waters onto the land where there is a road before it. Two dogs, one wild and one domestic, face one another, from each side of a long path. The road runs directly between two towers and into the vast unknown. The Moon and Sun appear in the sky, raining down light on the scene.

The reversal of The Moon results in the Moon and Sun falling out of orbit. All living things fall away and loses balance. The crayfish emerges into a world of darkness and chaos. The long, winding path of progress is all but invisible now, impossible to see with the loss of the Moon and Sun’s light. How do this card’s energies play out for Leo?

Thankfully, the Three of Wand’s general influence holds some power this month, promising Leos everywhere they’ll emerge out of the darkness and into the light eventually. You’re apt to feel like your head is in the clouds. Your mood may also be affected; Just as the crayfish emerges into darkness, you feel your inner world darkens when you’re not basking in the light of your ruling planet.

Usually social, you’ll lay low a lot in January. Normally in love with the limelight and appreciative of the adoration you get from others, you’ll have frequent bouts of the “blahs.” You’re less than motivated attitude stems from a disconnect between heart, mind, body, and spirit.

You’re seeking shelter, a place to hide away until the Sunlight returns once more. You’ve stopped trusting yourself and that small voice within. Not to worry, Leo, you’ll have your time in the Sun soon enough. For now, hunker down, curl up in a quiet place, and wait out the sporadic emotional storms. The Universe is watching. You’ll be rewarded for your endurance and tenacity with plenty of coins from the karmic piggy bank in future months.

Affirmation: “There are blessings in my life every day.”

The Page of Swords Tarot Card Meanings 1200x630

Virgo (Aug 23–Sep 23): Page of Swords (Reversed)

The Page of Swords depicts a young page wearing a red tunic and a yellow-sleeved shirt beneath it. His leggings are yellow, his boots rusty red, and even his hair is auburn. All the red hues in the card align with the Fire element, as does the sword he holds up in the air.

The Page stands on a mound of grass-covered earth with clouds rising up in the background. He is young, impetuous, egocentric, and not yet fully developed intellectually. He has much to learn about the pursuit of honor before he can become the Knight of Swords racing to his destiny or a king ready to take the throne. The clouds rising up around him represent his thoughts stirring, growing, and evolving as he assimilates more knowledge gained through experience. He is eager to embrace life, a risk taker, free spirit, and ready for anything that comes his way.

But, the card is reversed. Here, the Page is unstable and his thinking processes muddled and clouded. His confidence and courage are diminished as he questions his every move while distrusting his own instincts. The blood rushes to the Page’s head, increasing the intense pulse he feels inside his temples. Stress, strife, and trouble reign because his own uncertainty stirs up fears of failure. The Page, when upright, is honest and forthright. In reverse, he is reserved, silent even at his own expense. How does this play out in January for you, Virgo?

It all depends on how you heed the message of the Page. Flexibility and adaptability are key this month if you’re to make the most of the opportunities. Meditation will help you relax and find clarity. Grounding and centering will help you stand strong and endure during difficult moments. Take heart, Virgo, the clouds don’t remain in front of the Sun forever.

Affirmation: “I can endure all things.”

The Nine of Pentacles Tarot Card Meanings 1200x630

Libra (Sep 23–Oct 23): Nine of Pentacles (Reversed)

Libra’s lifelong challenge is finding balance, and January 2019 promises Libras everywhere the opportunity to strive for the harmony they crave. The Nine of Coins reversed shows imbalances in both confidence and the financial realm. When upright, the card depicts a wealthy female standing in front of a pile of coins (Pentacles). She holds a falcon on her hand. Her gown is yellow and she stands in a lovely vineyard. Grapes are hanging on the vines behind her.

The card’s reversal suggests the loss of the coins in the background. It’s a clear sign of more money going out than coming in. Overspending, waste, and excess are something you’ll be facing in January. If you’re not overspending now, then you’re facing the repercussions of such actions stemming from the recent past. Debt control is penciled in on the calendar for you, Libra.

If it’s a confidence issue, you’ll have to pull yourself up from your bootstraps through positive self-talk and affirmations. The only way to find harmony outside of yourself is to achieve it within. Allow your naturally loving nature to nurture your own heart and mind back to a state of harmonious well-being. Once you do, you’ll see the light and all the beautiful experiences awaiting on the horizon.

Affirmation: “I walk through the world in balance.”

The Nine of Cups Tarot Card Meanings 1200x630

Scorpio (Oct 23 – Nov 22): Nine of Cups

Oh, ambitious Scorpio, is it really a surprise the card for you in January is the Nine of Cups? The card depicts a portly man sitting on a bench with arms crossed in front of his chest and feet flat on the floor with legs spread. Behind him appears a table with a blue cloth cover. On the curved display are nine chalices side-by-side, lined up like trophies showing off his accomplishments. The man smiles demonstrating his content state, and his crossed arms convey a sense of satisfaction.

In January, you’re starting off right at the gate and taking off with lightning speed, Scorpio. The energies of the Three of Wands and the Nine of Cups combined, quadruple the resonance of completion and accomplishment (Three of Wands (3) + Nine of Cups (3 + 3 + 3) = 12 (3 + 3 + 3 + 3 ). This month, you’ll have bursts of divinely inspired creativity, all of which you’ll use to generate a significant change in your life. The Five of Swords Tarot Card Meanings 1200x630

Sagittarius (Nov 22–Dec 22): Five of Swords

Sagittarius, it’s a good thing you’re a risk-taker, because you jump right in both feet first into all January offers. And…. You’re drawing up the swords of battle as you do so, because the Five of Swords tells of myriad challenges ahead. In the Five of Swords there are the male figures, perhaps all represent aspects of the same man: one from the present, the second from the recent past, and the third from the distant past.

This card depicts a man conflicted, either in thought or emotion. He carries two swords, one in each hand, with one point up and one pointing to the earth. Those familiar with Tarot have seen this imagery before in the Magician, The Hierophant, and The Devil cards, signifying the “As above, so below,” Hermetic axiom. Your challenges this month are very much a part of the life and lessons you planned before your incarnation now, for what you will go through in January 2019 is written in the starry map of the heavens.

This month it appears your lesson is to accept change and walk away from the unchangeable. The Five of Swords reveals it’s imperative you know when to embrace something and when to put down the swords of battle and walk away. Taking on challenges you cannot change are futile and only leads to regret.

Affirmation: “I wisely choose the challenges I face.”

The Three of Pentacles Tarot Card Meanings 1200x630

Capricorn (Dec 22 – Jan 20): Three of Pentacles

In the Three of Pentacles, we see a mason using all the tools and every resource he has within his reach to create (or perhaps repair) a stunning work of architecture. He puts every ounce of the soul into his work while two others look on observing, critiquing, or perhaps instructing him on the desired design of the building. The coins in the arch form an equilateral triangle with two coins on the bottom and one on top: It’s a symbol of the Divine triune, but also of perfect balance. The Mason transforms into an artist through his creativity.

Business-headed Capricorn, is this not the perfect description of you? You’re the diligent, deliberate, dedicated worker. Here, the Three of Pentacles promises you plenty of opportunities to shine in January, especially when in the work environment. This month you’ll spend brainstorming, strategizing, and planning for the months ahead. You’re quick to tie up loose ends on existing projects. As the skilled multitasker, you’ll plant seed now for future growth as well.

Your analytical mind will have you focusing on making the most of 2019, and mapping a clear-cut path to your desired goals. You long for achievement, growth, and recognition. Congratulations Capricorn, 2019 promises you many opportunities to climb several rungs on the ladder to your greatest successes.

The Queen of Pentacles Tarot Card Meanings 1200x630

Aquarius (Jan 20 – Feb 18): Queen of Pentacles (Reversed)

The Queen of Pentacles sits on her throne with a lush and abundant scene all around her. She has a coin in her lap as she gazes upon it. A small hare darts across the grassy area, and the sun shines on high. The Queen of Pentacles is someone who has well-defined boundaries and knows what they want. She’s mature, wise, and she holds the understanding of how to co-create her reality with the Universe. But, the card is reversed. What does this mean for Aquarius in January 2019?

The reversed Queen of Wands shows you’ll likely feel overwhelmed by all the options before you. You’ll either end up procrastinating in making definitive choices about direction or you’ll end up with way too many irons in the fire. Aquarians are famed for their innovation, and fringe ideas, but with too much diversity before you, your airy influence might get the best of you. Just as too little ambition is never good, excessive ambition can also lead to ruin.

Consider what you’re most passionate about and allow yourself to be human, Aquarius. You can’t be all things to all people, nor can you do everything you want to accomplish at once. The Queen of Pentacles knows Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Affirmation: “I build my successes one solid step at a time.”

The Five of Cups Tarot Card Meanings 1200x630

Pisces (Feb 18 – Mar 20): Five of Cups

Your happiness this month is all about your perspective, Pisces. You can choose to look at the world through a half-empty half full lens. Or, you can choose to embrace a positive attitude and see all the blessings you have before you. You’re NEVER left without a choice. The realization of this simple truth can help you thrive even when challenges lie ahead.

The Five of Cups shows you’ll likely trap yourself into seeing the world one way, despite all the potential on the horizon. All the man in the card has to do is pick up his head and take in the full view of the landscape. If he does, he’ll see a bridge across the troubled waters within his current vision. He’ll also see, things aren’t as dismal as they might first appear.

In January, it’s time to pick your head up, Pisces. Look around you. Take in the bigger picture… the WHOLE picture. Yes, we stumble. Yes, we fall, but it’s not the end of all things. Choose to dust yourself off and continue on. There are many blessings to embrace when you do!

Affirmation: “I see the world with new eyes each day.”
