Amethyst Healing Properties
As adornment, the amethyst crystal easily allows its wearer to feel like true royalty and, so, is the stone most associated with attracting and manifesting true wealth.
No matter how small the stone, amethyst offers mighty spiritual protection so it is wise to carry a tumbled or palm stone at all times.
Because of the amethyst’s connection to the higher realms, its astonishing abilities of purification are legendary. It is no wonder that amethyst is most often a healer’s crystal of choice when they seek to cleanse their client of any addictions while at the same time energetically protecting them both.

Amethyst’s healing properties can be used to repair and regenerate the mind, body and spirit. Its cardinal element is Wind (Air) which represents universal power, knowledge and wisdom. Wind (Air) is pure substance and fundamental to all life. Though energy workers are guided intuitively to the particular type of amethysts they use for a particular client (wand, point, pyramid, sphere, egg, cluster, etc), it’s always a great idea to learn about Sacred Geometry and the meaning of shapes.
Much of the amethyst’s awesome power stems from its purple color, meaning; purple is the color of the crown chakra which is associated with higher consciousness, expanded awareness and ascension. Historically, amethyst was worn by royalty and, so, is a symbol of wealth.
Because the color symbolism of amethyst’s rich purple hues is so potent, when combined with the energy of the substance of life (Wind or Air) the amethyst crystal is a primary tool for healers and lightworkers the world over.
Amethyst stones may be used to connect and communicate with the client’s and one’s own spirit guides, angels and higher-self. By asking the amethyst to aid in accessing the Akashic Records an energy healer can immediately recognize the root cause of the client’s illness be it mental, emotional or physical.
Examples: If the client has always had swelling in the ankles perhaps they were a slave in past life and need to release the hate, pain and anguish stored in their DNA. If they are suffering from and causing suffering to others due to drug or alcohol addiction, does their self medication stem from attempting to deaden the pain caused by an abusive parent or sibling? Does the client need to heal from the false belief they are inferior and undeserving of joy?
Once the root cause of a client’s energetic imbalance is revealed, a recommendation for healing can immediately be crafted and put into action.

Amethyst Name Etymology
Derived from a Greek word meaning “not drunken”.
In a Greek myth, the Roman God of Wine, Bacchus, declared that the first person he met would be eaten by tigers. On her way to worship the Goddess Diana, a beautiful young girl named Amethyst happened to be the unfortunate first soul to pass his way. To prevent her from being devoured by the tigers, the Goddess Diana turned her into a lovely crystal whereupon Baccus poured some of his best grape juice over the stone as an offering of remorse.
And so it is from the nectar of one of the Gods that Amethyst crystals get their gorgeous purple color.
