Virgo Child:
Traits, Personality & Characteristics

“If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.”
– Mother Teresa

Writing about the personality traits of any Virgo, but especially a Virgo child, is a humbling experience.

The sage wisdom of famed astrologer Linda Goodman really sums up the Virgo’s soul in just a few sentences;

“Love is man’s and woman’s deepest need. Virgo, The Virgin, comes here to teach that love is pure and learn that love is fulfillment.”

Just like Mother Teresa, your Virgo child incarnated in order to serve humanity and does so by shining the light of unconditional love everywhere they are.

Virgo Child Traits, Personality, & Characteristics

As the parents of a Virgo child it will rapidly become apparent that your child’s personality craves perfection and they are the consummate perfectionists.

They also are mom’s little helpmate with any type of task that makes them feel needed. A lot of this focus comes from the ruling planet of Mercury. Like the Roman god your little one will forever be running hither and yon with another task in hand. This is great but for those moments when they go overboard. Their unselfish nature may lead to neglecting their own needs.

One thing that your Virgo child adores is learning.

You cannot give them too many books or educational tools. This astrology sign has a knack for picking up new skills in part because they really know how to listen. They also know how to explain their questions succinctly making it a little easier to feed this ever-hungry mind.

Remember that your Virgo child is an Earth element. The questions they pose are well-grounded in the reality around them. Just don’t be surprised if they see something you completely overlooked with highly discerning eyes.

That very same discernment often leads to your child wanting to play with “older” toys.

This star sign approaches each challenge with meticulous seriousness.

He or she will fall rapt into a project of taking something apart and putting it back together. When finished, the Virgo child picks up the mess and tidies up everything. You will not have to wag a finger at this child for having a messy room.

This sense of organization and industry may sound like a dream come through for a weary parent, but remind your Virgo to play once in a while. They need a little whimsy in their life or they turn into mini workaholics.

The Virgo soul truly thinks that they must be flawless in order to deserve love. This can be a tough characteristic to contend with as a parent. How do ever get them to truly know, deep down inside that they are worthy?

The Virgo child’s personality isn’t naturally frolicsome. They are too intent on being perfect!

Instilling humor and playfulness in your Virgo is among the greatest gifts you could give him or her.

To temper that “seriousness” you can inspire their imagination at an early age.

Outdoor activities support the Virgo spirit with a healthy outlet for all that seriousness. Consider taking them swimming or on picnics away from the demands of daily life.

This is also the perfect time to bond with your Virgo baby, showing them plentiful physical attention that in turn builds self confidence.

The Virgo Girl

A Virgo girl is among one of the most dependable children you will ever meet. This sun sign likes consistency, stability and trustworthiness and gives of those characteristics to those around her freely. Your girl freely shows you love and requires that in return, and never once does it feel forced.

In the scheme of life you’ll notice that Virgo girls just oozes charm and humor. But she is also an ardent stickler. When something is out of order it makes them antsy – Virgos are all about having frameworks without which they get distracted.

One thing to keep in mind with a Virgo girl is that she never comes by a conclusion quickly. Pose various scenarios then prepare to wait. Your little Virgo will examine every facet of the choice put before them, using her systematic mind, which also means she often makes a terrific decision. Balancing that, once set on a path she becomes very determined and may seem introverted. This is the way your daughter processes new information and ideas. Just make sure that she doesn’t continually withdraw without breaks for fun.

There will be days that you’re nearly certain your Virgo daughter is from another time. She has a sense of tradition and convention that comes across as old fashioned. This reflects the influence of the Earth element that gives the Virgo such strong sensibilities.

Reality always trumps fantasy in your daughter’s life. It can be helpful to buffer some of the intense matters until she’s of an age that they make sense.

The Virgo Boy

Male Virgo children are gentle giants. Yes they’re fastidious and have high expectations but that’s also part of what sets this child apart from the throng. Where other children strive to color inside the lines, the Virgo boy CREATES the lines. The order they bring to situations in which disarray exists is nothing short of amazing for parents who would otherwise dread the piles in the closet.

Your Virgo boy has a lot going on intellectually.

Sometimes it’s hard to keep up with this star sign’s astute rationality. When a discussion comes up your son will very directly recount everything leading up to that moment.

There are no trivial features in the Virgo’s thought process.

Effectively this child is like the elephant – they will never forget important details, which also makes them excellent artists and leaders among their peers.

With parents this aptitude can sometimes prove embarrassing or frustrating when your little Virgo outwits you with shear memory power.

In terms of family dynamics your Virgo son is the ever-logical diplomat. He does not like disputes. Rather he prefers jumping into the fray offering a solution.

As with the other Virgo thought processes, this answer considers everyone in the equation. The word “injustice” isn’t part of your Virgo’s vocabulary, which also means he may leap before he looks and end up in a bit of a jam.

When it comes to personal conflicts, however, your Virgo son reacts quite differently. He has an unusual amount of maturity for his age. When he feels maligned he’s smart enough to simply keep a distance rather than engaging in a quarrel.

    I can’t believe how accurate this was regarding my 6 year old son. I am a Cancer. Do cancer parents usually mesh well with Virgo children?

    • Bernadette King says:

      Hello, Amanda;

      Virgos have a tough time no matter what sign they are interacting with. The voices inside Virgo’s head are constantly beating them up and their never ending quest for perfection can cause them to have strained relationships of all kinds. Since your zodiac sign is Cancer, you are perfectly suited to help your Virgo child learn to be more gentle with himself. You, Cancer, can speak to him about how to overcome fears of failure and help him build up his self confidence. So, yes! This can be a wonderful meshing!

      Hope that helps!

      Love,
      Bernadette

  2. Hope says:

    I am a libra. I have not had good relationships with virgos. My child is a Virgo.. I am afraid. Do libras and virgos get along?

    • Bernadette King says:

      Hello,

      Apologies for the tardy reply. Was on vacation. 🙂

      Fortunately, Capricorn rules Libra’s Fourth House – Motherhood. So, you and your Virgo child can find common ground in staying on track and taking care of the details. This is a terrific combo because it will allow you two Goddesses to work together on projects in harmony. The only clash between your two Zodiac signs might come when your Virgo child (the glass is always half empty) gets annoyed at her Libra mom’s optimism. Always remember, she’s not trying to rain on your parade. She just really can’t see the light most of the time.

      Hope that helps!

      Love,
      Bernadette

  3. Kira says:

    I feel like Libra is a sign that can connect to any other sign, Virgo included. Virgos and Libras are very different people but should have no problem complementing each other, especially in the parental role.

    • Bernadette King says:

      Hello, Kira;

      You are absolutely correct! Libra’s can clearly see both sides of any situation – equally. It’s an amazing gift they have! Thank you for taking the time to comment on and thank you for visiting BuildingBeautifulSouls.com!

      Love,

    I’m having a tough time with my Virgo toddler son. I’m a Libra. Since he started to move around, crawling, walking etc. he just won’t be cuddled. He hates it. He’ll offer a kiss willingly and ask to be picked up but he quickly wants to break contact. I have older sons who are quite different. They love to cuddle. I thrive on being affectionate with my babies and it’s really upsetting me that he rejects my affection. Have you got any words of wisdom for me?

    • Bernadette King says:

      Hi, Danielle;

      Apologies for delayed reply. The first of the year is always crazy booked with psychic readings. Whew! LOL

      Oh, Libra mommy. Please don’t be hurt by your pragmatic Virgo child. Libra is emotional and wears it on their sleeves – and pants and hats and socks and…well, you get the picture! Virgo is wound too tightly for that. It embarrasses them because Virgos are prim and proper. They see emotional tidal waves as a problem to be fixed. LOL So, just dial the emotions back a notch or two and trust that your Virgo baby loves you so, SO much – he just can’t work from the same heart centered place as you.

      Hope that helps!

      Love,
      Bernadette

  5. Audra says:

    Hello! I am a Virgo and my son is as well. I am afraid of what our relationship will become when he gets older. I am a stereotypical Virgo, I’m
    Analytical and a little OCD. My son is so sweet and loving, but he is very needy and as an adult I am not. My mother said he is me in male form (as a child) I am just wondering if we will clash or synchronize. My husband jokes and says we are going to take over the world.

    • Bernadette King says:

      Hi, Audra;

      Apologies for delayed reply. The first of the year is always crazy booked with psychic readings. Whew! LOL

      What’s so awesome about how you and your son will relate is that you already understand your Zodiac Sign and know what pitfalls to watch out for. As for whether you’ll clash or synchronize, that can’t be answered without a full relationship astrology chart. If you look only at how a Virgo mom and Virgo child might interact the positive point is that you two can accomplish great things because you operate like a well oiled machine. The negativity will come in that both of you nit pick till people lose their wits! Just try not to pick at him and don’t allow him to push your OCD buttons. Easier said than done but forewarned is forearmed!

      Hope that helps!

      Love,
      Bernadette

  6. Vanja says:

    I have 4month old baby Virgo, and this sounds very helpful, thank you!! What about his relationship with Aquarius-sister and me, mother- Scorpio? Any advice?? Thank you so much..

  7. Chelsea says:

    Any advise for an Aries mother to a Virgo son, 2 years old? He honestly breaks my heart because of how emotionally conflicted he can get but seems to push me away when I reach out to comfort him, and he’s definitely an unstoppable force, haha!

    • Bernadette King says:

      Hi, Chelsea;

      I feel for you. Two of the mos love/hate relationships I’ve ever had were with Virgos. They can’t help the push/pull thing they do. It’s just who they are. They desperately want attention, reassurance, and to be baby-coddled (even as adults). But Virgos are so tightly wound with self-doubt they push away those who would support and love them unconditionally because, at the end of the day, they simply don’t feel ‘worthy’.

      The best you can do is simply keep showing your Virgo boy how much you love him. This life is his journey and only his soul will be able to decide how much to let you in and when.

      Hope that helps.

      Love,
      Bernadette

  8. Justina says:

    I’m a Taurus and expecting a little Virgo, which honestly worries me a little. My only experience with them hasn’t been great. I’m more free-spirited and super affectionate. I do love what is said about the Virgo child being so loving though. I’m hoping my playfulness and whimsy will rub off on my little one 🙂

    • Bernadette King says:

      Hello, Justina;

      My humble apology for the delayed reply. I’m working hard to personally reply to all comments on both my sites – WhatIsMySpiritAnimal.com and BuildingBeautifulSouls.com. Unfortunately there are only 24 hours in a day so I can’t get to them all as quickly as I would like. 🙂

      Though you’re a bit worried, it’s absolutely wonderful to see how much thought and wisdom you’re already putting into your relationship with your Virgo baby. As a Taurus mom, yes – you two are likely to clash. Taurus is blunt and that can send sensitive Virgo over the edge – but, honestly, what doesn’t send Virgos over the edge? 😉 LOL Joking-ish.

      Here’s the bestest thing about the relationship you’re likely to share with your Virgo child – you’ll be able to make her/him feel safe. And, at the end of the day, Virgos are the way they are because they NEVER feel ‘safe’. Setting boundaries is super important to be sure, but if you can always make sure YOU are the soft place for your Virgo to land then you’ll be as close as a parent and child can ever be.

      Hope that helps.

      Love,
      Bernadette

  9. Laura says:

    Hello, I’m expecting a little Virgo and want to be the very best parent to him or her but I’m concerned because this baby will be born to a family made up entirely of fire signs. This includes my husband and I and three older brothers. I love this baby so much already but worry they might at some point feel like they don’t belong because of the fiery temperments that will surround him or her. Any words of advice? Thank you in advance.

    • Steph says:

      I’d love to know the answer to this too because both my husband and I are fire signs as well and found out today our little one will be a Virgo!

    • Bernadette King says:

      Hello, Laura;

      Apology for delayed reply. I’m finding that having two hands is not enough and I’m looking into getting surgery to become an Octopus. 😉

      Wow – 5 fire signs in one house! Somebody call the fire department! LOL

      Wellllll, bringing a Virgo into any household is challenging enough but with Virgo baby flanked on all sides by fire you definitely have your work cut out for you. Now, your baby’s rising sign will make a big difference so it’s important to get that info once your little Virgo is born.

      Hope that helps.

      Love,
      Bernadette

  10. Lindsey says:

    Hi Bernadette, My baby is a Virgo with a moon in Scorpio. It seems like this is such a serious and negative combo with lots of inner conflict to overcome. Even as a baby he can be very serious and intense! (I’m a libra with a Capricorn moon). Any advice on how to help him navigate these challenges?

    • Bernadette King says:

      Hello, Lindsey;

      Apology for delayed reply. I’m finding that having two hands is not enough and I’m looking into getting surgery to become an Octopus. 😉

      From a purely metaphysical and spiritual perspective, I honor that you, Libra mom, and baby Virgo/Scorpio signed up for this tough soul contract. You two must love each other very much! LOL

      OK, soooooo – yes. The internal conflict your Virgo child is likely to have could be significant. However, you’re a Libra (peacmaker/lover of all things beautiful) and the Capricorn in you will be able to keep Virgo/Scorpio grounded and less likely to spin.

      Your baby will need lots and lots and lots and lots of love and reinforcement of self-worth. When Libra wants to bail on that because it gets too hard, call on the Capricorn in your soul. Capricorns stay on track till the end of time and that’s a great thing!

      Hope that helps.

      Love,
      Bernadette

  11. Ashley Meccia says:

    Hi! I’m a Pisces Mom to a 4 month old Virgo boy. I was wondering if you had any pointers for how to sleep train him? He likes to wake up every two hours and just seems to want to be held. A lot of people say to let them cry it out until they learn how to self soothe to sleep better, but I don’t feel comfortable doing that unless it would be helpful for him. My husband is a cancer so we’re both fairly emotional so any pointers for how to interact/teach our son would be helpful! Thanks!

    • Bernadette King says:

      Hello, Ashley;

      Apology for delayed reply. I’m finding that having two hands is not enough and I’m looking into getting surgery to become an Octopus. 😉

      I want to go on record as saying that A. I’ve never been a parent and B. I’m not a child behavior expert. The opinion I’m going to give you is simply a metaphysical and spiritual one…

      Because you and your husband are water signs, your baby downloaded a TON of emotion and love while in the womb. So, to expect him – ESPECIALLY a Virgo – to just ‘poof’ be able to sleep on his own is not (IMHO) a good idea.

      Throughout their lives, Virgos need constant reassurance of love. You and your husband gave that baby so much love while he was in the womb that he would naturally keep wanting that feeling.

      Based on Zodiac Signs, I say let your little one sleep with you all or next to you until such time as he doesn’t need it anymore. ALL children develop at different times and in different ways. Do what your heart tells you to do and you’ll be just fine!

      Hope that helps.

      Love,
      Bernadette

  12. Dulce says:

    Hi I am a Leo sign and is my husband and our baby will be a Virgo. Any advice. My husband and j are both perfectionist and thrive for the best worries me we will put to much pressure on our already Virgo baby that is like this.
    How best to help the baby be itself and grow all of his/her potential.

  13. AirSign Mommy says:

    Thank you for this I am a Aquarius Sun, Leo Moon mom to a 6 month old virgo sun, Aquarius moon baby boy. I am so excited about our potential relationship but worry about handling a little perfectionist. Is dad and I aren’t together and he is a very watery Pisces. Being a little flighty at times, how do I give my baby boy the structure he needs. Also, how do I help him understand his dad’s constant fraying and emotional reactions/outbursts?

  14. Kennisha says:

    Hello,I’m a Leo, and all three of my children two older boys, and the youngest a girl. What does that mean for me? They require so much attention, and I constantly feel pulled my all three.

  15. Kelly says:

    Wow, I’m so happy I’ve stumbled across this site. I’m a Taurus and my 4 year old daughter is a Virgo. Your write up on the star sign is so accurate it’s scary 🙂 Hehehe
    My daughter is an absolute nature lover and her little brain is so keen to soak up as much as it can. She’s a book worm and loves to learn. She’s definitely neat and has already adapted her own way of keeping her environments/belongings organised in her own little systems. She’s actually been my biggest teacher and continues to be each and every single day and opened my world up…
    I must say when we clash, boy do we clash but grudges are never held. We have an amazingly strong bond, we are mother and daughter but already best friends. I actually don’t remember life without her. I feel as though she’s definitely been here before and most certainly more times than I have as strange as that may sound!

  16. Jody says:

    I have a 20 month old Virgo baby and I am a Scorpio (but on the cusp with Libra) I am concerned that I won’t be able to help her as she grows with anything I feel I am her total opposite

  17. Debbie says:

    I’m a SCORPIO Mommy and constantly dealing with my rollicoaster emotional wrecks .. my 5yr old Virgo daughter is witnessing my weakness will that eventually destroy her as she gets older .. it also isolate my time away from her as I’m carrying guilt of NOT giving her my time that I know I should be but I get Webb in my own depression .. I’m really concerned that I’m seriously going to effect her in later in life what could help me now to prevent more corruption in her life

  18. Chelsea says:

    Hello! I an 11 year old Virgo-Libra cusp with a Taurus moon sign, sister. My younger sister is a full out Aquarius with a Scorpio moon sign. I feel that we dont get along that all but at the same time we do. Any advice?

  19. Mansi Shinde says:

    Hello, I am a Leo mother and my daughter is a Virgo with a Scorpio rising and a Libra moon, with the sun in Virgo is there anything I need to worry about?

  20. Giselle says:

    Hello,
    I am a Pisces mom to and Aries daughter. Her Papa/my husband is an Aries as well.
    We are talking about trying for another child and my husband feels a Virgo would be a good balance. I am afraid (LOL). Just from reading… The perfectionism, the isolation/frustration the child might feel around all the fire and my wishy washy attempts at structure. Any advice? Could a Virgo thrive in this environment? Is there a sign you see being a better balance for an Aries/Aries/Pisces home?

    ANY insights are greatly appreciated 🙂

    May be it’s worth mentioning that both my husband and Scorpio Sun father( who I love to the moon and back) are Virgo Rising and my daughter is a Capricorn Moon.

  21. Lucas says:

    Hello, for your information I am actually the child in my family my mom is a capricorn, so is my brother but I am just wondering I’ve been doing a LOT of research and it says that virgo are not fighters and are shy but I am a fighter (I mean that I am physically capable) and I’m not shy so I don’t really understand what I am.

  22. Rithik kumar says:

    Iam Virgo a boy who have Little friends but if i don’t like someone i don’t pretend like them I’ll say it to them directly nd I’m aggressive and my parents always says to speak politely but I’ll do the same thing so some of the people I know will just disappear in my friends circle that’s why iam having a few friends that are loyal
