First Chakra – The Base or Root Chakra (Muladhara)

Root Chakra Meaning:
The Base or Root Chakra is the “foundation”.
Known also by the Sanskrit name Muladhara, this spiritual wheel sits at the base of your spine. This is where your fight-or-flee instinct resides and, so, the First Chakra is about survival.
The Root Chakra teaches us about physical world survival and security. It also acts as an early warning system when danger is imminent.
Symptoms that indicate your Base Chakra is out of balance include lower back pain, poor circulation, lethargy and sadness. Physical activities help stimulate a healthier Base Chakra as does working with the Earth and consuming red foods.

Second Chakra – The Sacral Chakra (Syadisthana)

Sacral Chakra Meaning:
The Sanskrit name is Syadisthana. Physically the Spleen or Sacral Chakra is just below your belly button.
This is where your emotions reside, particularly those connected with intimate relationships and socialization.
The lesson of this Chakra is that emotions are valid even if not wholly accurate.
Signs that the Sacral Chakra needs adjustments include urinary infections, sexual dysfunction, airborne allergies, addictive lifestyles and anorexia. Warmth seems particularly good for stimulating this Chakra (such as soaking in a hot tub) as are breathing exercises.

Yellow is the hue assigned to the Solar Plexus or Manipura Chakra.

In tradition of certain martial arts traditions this is where your Hara, or power lies for springing into action, mindful comprehension, and self-awareness. Warriors often looked to the Hara trusting it for signals about the enemy.

As the Heart Chakra, an imbalance here typically results in conditions like high blood pressure and heart disease. This Chakra also impacts circulation and the immune system.

This is also your trust center. The Throat Chakra senses lies including your own. It governs your ability to communicate in truth and love without becoming a proverbial door mat.
When the Throat Chakra is out of sync various conditions may manifest including glandular infections, bleeding gums, neck pain, laryngitis, water retention and severe reactions to hormonal changes.
Additionally you may find that you feel very muddled and have trouble putting thoughts or plans in proper order.
