Ah, Valentine’s Day. Yes. I know. It’s a man made, overly commercialized, bad for the environment, pseudo holiday. Or is it?
As a metaphysical practitioner, I’m obligated by Universal Law to participate in Valentine’s Day because it’s all about love. Romantic love, familial love, platonic love, earth love, career love, soul’s purpose love – love, love, LOVE! Plus, I’m a Scorpio. Throughout our life, we yearn and burn for one thing and one thing only – true love.
I believe in the energy of Valentine’s Day – with all my candy hearts. If you’ll allow February and Valentine’s Day to work their special magic, each can be a catalyst to help you become a better lover.
Stop for a moment. Let your mindfulness training kick in. Remove all judgment regarding Valentine’s Day. Be the present moment. No – not be ‘in’ the present moment – BE the present moment. Wear its energetic cloak. What love energies surround and flow through you at this time?
What loves are you celebrating? What loves are causing you to face demons or traumas?
Are you admiring your soul’s purpose from afar? Do you love a career that doesn’t know you exist? Is there a wedding, bar or bat mitzvah, baby shower, pet adoption or other love filled gathering you’re attending in February?
How does love ‘feel’ to you right now? What do you want love to feel like? How do you want to show up as love in this world? How do you want love to show up to you?
Now. Take another moment and meditate on the Rumi quote below. Ask the energies of February and Valentine’s Day to support your heart chakra as you give thanks for the loves you already have and the loves you want to come in.
Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it. ~ Rumi
Right. All the love you desire is there – it’s everywhere. When we remove judgement and trust that whatever we seek is seeking us, we see the love that’s been there the entire time. Perhaps most importantly, once we see true love we cannot, must not turn our back on it. We can and must be vulnerable and open.
Use this Valentine’s Day as a vehicle to become a better lover. Remove the barriers blocking you from giving and receiving love. Rejoice in whatever powers of love that are available to you now.
