Coral Dreams

Learn all about the healing and metaphysical properties of crystals, rocks and gemstones.

Because of its connection with the sea and water, Coral is a fertility emblem.

Mediterranean: Safeguarding your children. Note that this “baby” can be anything to which you creatively give birth, like a piece of art.

If washed to shore in the dream, Coral represents a treasure from the Mother Goddess of the sea. Look at its color and shape and other elements in the dream for insight as to Her message.

In dream oracles, Coral predicts recovery from sickness or a loss.

Corn Dreams

Gathering corn represents rejoicing in the prosperity of friends and relatives.

A rich harvest of corn speaks of prosperity. Since this was a popular early grain crop, the presence of corn on the land directly reflected the wealth of a farmer. In your dreams, the condition of the corn or how it’s taken to market may hold more significance here. For example, if the corn is transported via horse and buggy, maybe you need to update your outlooks to experience success.

The cycle of life, death, and rebirth. Egyptian, Christian, and Celtic traditions often draw parallels between corn’s cycle and that of the soul. A popular pagan song tells of corn and grain, adding that “all that falls shall rise again.”

Passing through a field of corn symbolizes harmony in the home and figurative wealth that comes from having true friends. It may also portend a temporary increase in funds.

A newly planted corn field is an omen of forthcoming success.

Popcorn is an emblem of excitement from an unexpected gift or some good news. Among Native Americans, it may also represent divinatory skills “popping” up.

Corners Dreams

Feeling trapped, especially by others’ rules and practices.

Punishment or chastisement with parental overtones.

Turning corners: Modifications, corrections, and improvements; finally being able to find a “better way” to achieve your goal.

Costumes Dreams

A façade or charade. Things are not as they seem.

Various roles we play in life. For example, someone who is an authority figure may be seen in a costume depicting a famous leader like Julius Caesar (see Icons).

Mimicry of various real-life scenarios as if in a play. This provides a safe medium for the expression of your perceptions.

Sustenance and support. Among ancient tribal cultures, costumes and masks served as a vehicle for sympathetic magic. For example, if they needed crops to grow, they might dress as vegetation and perform a jumping dance to encourage that growth. So, what facet of your life does this costume represent, and how does it accent that facet?

Counseling Dreams

Observing or taking part in a counseling session in your dreams often shows that you feel uncertain or guarded about your ideas and judgment with regards to a specific set of circumstances or people. The counselor may represent your Higher Self, the subconscious, or some other type of guide who can offer you insight in this situation (see Conversation).

Red cows appearing in a dream are a positive, hopeful omen of peace and plenty. In Persia, these represented the spirit of dawn, which is filled with renewed vitality and courage.

In Greece, an all-white cow was an alternative symbol for the moon.

A natural source of nourishment (see Meat).

Among the Celts and people of Scandinavian heritages, an emblem of continued provision.

A sacred animal in India, representative of life itself. The milk from cows is used to nourish kings and priests, so this dream may represent self-nourishment.

Among ancient Egyptians, Indians, and Scandinavians, the cow was an emblem of the Great Mother, and some psychological schools still ascribe this image as possibly being linked to your own mother (see Women).

Crab Dreams

Dreams about Crabs can symbolize the Zodiac Sign of Cancer.

Scuttling about, carrying half truths with you wherever you go.

The hard shell of the crab equates to armor that you may use for protection.

Metaphorically, a crabby or grabby personality manifesting itself.

A life in limbo. Among Buddhists, a crab is used to represent the time between death and the next incarnation. Perhaps you feel like everything on “hold” right now. If so, just be patient. A fresh beginning is around the corner.

Crane Dreams

A messenger from the Divine, who bears intelligence and discipline on its wings.

According to Pliny, because this bird stands on one leg when it sleeps, it is actually standing watch. As such, it represents vigilance.

In Japan, this is the teacher of law, specifically governmental, mundane law.

In China, the crane intercedes between heaven and Earth. What messages do you wish for it to take back?

Longevity for yourself or a personal pet project. In the East, this bird is thought to live for 1,000 years so the seeds you’re planting now will have lasting effects long into the future.

Crocodile Dreams

Vicious, snapping words spoken in haste; treachery or hypocrisy without thought to the consequences.

Falsehood, insincerity, and deception (as in crying “crocodile years”).

As the guardian of the gate to the underworld, the crocodile also represents an obstacle to the threshold of the subconscious.

Cross Dreams

Something coming to an end or a crossroad.

The Celtic or Greek equidistant cross: An elemental balance and wholeness (see Pictographs).

Carrying a cross: Burdens that may not be yours to bear. Self-imposed martyrdom.

Protective energy. Carrying or wearing a cross was long considered a potent safeguard from evil, especially from vampires.

A Red Cross: Take special note of your health, as this suggests you may be overlooking a problem that could become serious with time.

According to Jung, other items that are symbolic of crosses include the ace of spades (see Cards), forked branches, anchors, and four-armed wheels. If any of these appear in your dream, consider both entries for interpretative value.

A Saltire Cross (one rotated halfway) creates an X, marking the spot under which you should look for more answers, or to discover the treasures.

Crowd Dreams

Each face in a crowd dream can represent different facets of yourself.

People with whom you regularly interact. Potentially a Karmic circle that exists to help you learn and grow.

Feeling lost in a crowd: A sense of insignificance, of not knowing the power of the individual to make a difference. Alternatively, a type of desertion dream.

Crown Dreams

Is the crown being put on or taken off? If accepted, this reveals your acceptance of responsibility for your life. If removed, perhaps you’re trying to set aside culpability for your actions (or lack thereof).

Greco-Roman: Hospitality. It was a common practice to present guests with crowns of decorative leaves so that they would be treated like kings while in the host’s home.

Developing leadership qualities, skills, or higher ideals (see Authority Figures).

What type of attitude does the person with the crown portray? Is it dictatorial or fair? This attitude reflects the way you treat yourself or others-either overly harsh, or fairly.

Crumbs Dreams

Receiving less than you deserve in a situation, particularly emotional or financial sustenance (see Bread, Eating).

Literally not getting enough nutrients in your diet.

A frugal nature evidencing itself, sometimes to an extreme.

Crutch Dreams

Leaning on someone or something for support. Depending on the other symbols in the dream, this may be hindering personal growth (see Lameness). If so, stand up and take responsibility!

Being emotionally or spiritually “disabled” to the point where you constantly look to other people to supply ideas or motivation.

Crying Dreams

Dreaming of crying or moaning is usually a straightforward release of some type of pain, regret, guilt, or sadness. If it is the cry of an animal, the emotions are likely tied to whatever that creature represents.

The cry of a child can represent your own inner child trying to get attention (see Baby). Alternatively, for new parents this is a circumstantial dream caused by normal concerns, and by being woken up so frequently by the newborn.

Crystals Dreams

Clear crystals (Quartz): purity, refinement, and accuracy.

A single crystal: The core of self, our identity and existence. Look at how the crystal appears for more interpretive value. Is it clear, multifaceted, cloudy?

Clear vision, discernment, or foresight. Smooth crystal surfaces were used for scrying throughout history, in numerous cultures including that of medieval Europe and Victorian America. Watch and see if any symbols or images form in the sphere, and use those as a starting point for interpretation (see Divination).

As with gems, each crystal has different interpretive value and represents various omens. Agate, for example, portends positive business ventures, while amethyst reveals contentment with your work. Conversely, dreaming of losing an Amethyst signals the loss of love or self-control. Here is a brief list of other common crystals and their interpretations. Note that many meanings correlate to the crystal’s color.

Beryl: harmonious relationship

Carnelian: luck and safety
Garnet: faithfulness
Hematite: charm and grace
Jet:sadness and mourning
Lapis: psychic awareness
Lodestone: enticement
Malachite: peaceful rest
Onyx: discord
Opal: change, bad luck
Quartz: energy, strength

What happens to the crystal in the dream will alter the interpretation. To illustrate, having a Bloodstone shatter probably indicates that you feel as if your hopes have been dashed, whereas receiving the gift of a Lapis Lazuli might indicate an openness to develop your latent psychic abilities.

Cup Dreams

In Tarot, The Suit of Cups represents the feminine (hence receptive) energy of the Universe. This Tarot Suit is all about the Element of Water (the subconscious mind), emotions and fertility.

If cups have appeared to you in a dream, it could be a sign for you to learn tarot.

Dreaming of cups could also foretell of a pregnancy or “birth” of a business.

Because Cups have such strong symbolic ties with The Tarot, your higher self could be letting you know it’s time to do an energetic check in with a Tarot Reading.

Curtains Dreams

Differences in, or separations between, groups of people, ideals, and dimensions. In the Old Testament, a veil or curtain separated the outer court and the Holy of Holies.

Privacy; having something that ensures a quiet, personal sanctuary.

Closing yourself off (especially if you see the curtains being drawn). Not wanting people to see you as you truly are; hiding from yourself or your feelings.

Torn curtains reveal quarrels and reproach within the home. The rifts caused by this discord need to be mended.

Changing curtains discloses similar transformations within you or your home. For example, a change to loud, vibrant hues might indicate increased energy and an outgoing nature.
